
DR. SOLOMON TUCKER
Chief Executive Officer
Solomon is a mining professional, with over 20 years' experience in the industry. He holds a Ph.D. in mining engineering (2015) from Utah, USA, where he specialized in the optimization of rock fragmentation, and in crushing and milling systems. He earned his M.Sc. in mining engineering at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana (2001): and his B.Sc. (Hons.) in Geology, at the University of Sierra Leone (1994).

With broad experience in mine operational start-up planning (both at large- and small-scale mines), Solomon led the founding of Kasino Mining Company's mining project, a Sino-Sierra Leonean heavy mineral sands operation that has just completed development and is heading into operations in the south of the country. He continues to hold shares in Kasila Mining & Engineering Services Ltd.one of Kasino's parent companies.

Solomon's skills range from mineral exploration design, orebody modelling resource/reserve estimation. economic and financial evaluation of investments, surface mine planning and design, to mine-to-mill process optimization, Occupational Health, Risk and Safety Management Systems, and mine surveying. Solomon carries a rare breadth of perspective on the sector. This perspective is informed by years of hands-on experience in operating mines, as well as by technical activities undertaken widely in the country. He recently concluded a sector-wide analysis of gaps in the capture of social and community requirements in the licensing process for the acquisition of mineral rights.

Solomon teaches at Fourah Bay College. University of Sierra Leone. and currently serves as the Head of the Department of Mining Engineering. He holds a mine certificate of Competency (Class A), and is a member of the Sierra Leone Institution of Engineers (SLIE), the Society for Mining Metallurgy and Exploration (SME). the International Society for Explosives Engineers (ISEE), and the Sierra Leone Institution of Geoscientists (SLIG)
